Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
-
Me! I'm Anastasia Bevza, FNP-BC, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of clinical experience in primary care and urgent care.
I perform all consultations and treatments personally. You'll work directly with me, from the initial assessment through follow-up.
-
It's a small, clinician-run practice with a practical approach to aesthetics.
I consider your anatomy, medical history, goals, budget, and real life before recommending treatment.
No elaborate packages, no pressure to do more, and no chasing trends. Sometimes a small adjustment is enough. Sometimes the best recommendation is to leave something alone.
And if another treatment or provider would serve you better, I'll tell you.
-
Start with a 15-minute video chat, a.k.a. free consultation.
Tell me what's bothering you, and we'll discuss what might help, what I offer, and whether an appointment makes sense.
There is no obligation to proceed with treatment.
A free consultation is a brief conversation, not a full medical evaluation or personalized skincare plan.
Text me at 202-630-7789 to get started.

Tox treatments: In person at Naas Tox & Skin, located inside Arte Dental at 1145 19th St NW, Suite 802, Washington, DC, near Dupont Circle.
Skin consultations: Convenient video appointments.
Limited private or mobile tox appointments may also be available by arrangement. Text me to discuss your needs.
-
Tox visits: approximately 30 minutes.
Comprehensive Skin Consultation: 45 minutes by video.
Focused Prescription Skin Visit: 20 minutes by video.
Skin Follow-Up: approximately 20 minutes by video.
New tox patients receive an evaluation before treatment. When appropriate, consultation and treatment can take place during the same appointment (which is — really — most of the time).
Tox
-
I use Jeuveau®, an FDA-approved prescription wrinkle relaxer in the same family as Botox® Cosmetic.
Botox and Jeuveau are different brands of botulinum toxin type A. They work through a similar mechanism and — while not identical — they are comparable in experience, including unit-to-unit dosing.
Many people use "Botox" as shorthand for any wrinkle-relaxing injection. I know what you mean!
-
Tox temporarily reduces activity in targeted muscles.
I offer individualized treatment for cosmetic concerns, including frown lines, forehead lines, crow's feet, and selected lower-face and neck concerns.
I also evaluate certain functional concerns, including jaw clenching and excessive underarm sweating.
Important: Jeuveau is FDA-approved for temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. Other cosmetic areas, jaw-muscle treatment, and excessive sweating treatment with Jeuveau are off-label uses. We discuss the evidence, limitations, alternatives, and risks before proceeding.
-
Not unless a substantially reduced range of movement is your specific goal—and even then, there are limits to what I consider appropriate.
Most people want softer expression lines without looking noticeably different.
My usual approach is conservative: enough treatment to make a meaningful difference, while preserving natural-looking expression.
You and I will discuss your preferences before treatment.
-
Botulinum toxin has been used in medicine for decades and has an established safety profile when appropriately prescribed and administered. But it is still a medication and a medical procedure.
Common side effects include temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising. Less common complications include unwanted muscle weakness, eyelid or eyebrow drooping, or asymmetry. Rare but serious effects, including spread of toxin effects beyond the injection area, are also possible.
I review your medical history, medications, and relevant risks before treatment. I do not offer tox during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and certain medical conditions or allergies may make treatment inappropriate.
Your consultation is an opportunity to discuss these considerations before making a decision.
-
Jeuveau is $12 per unit, with a $150 minimum treatment.
The total dose depends on your anatomy, muscle activity, treatment area, previous experience, and desired result.
You'll know the proposed dose and total cost before treatment begins. No surprise additions.
Excessive underarm sweating treatment is priced separately at $900 for a 100-unit treatment.
-
You may begin noticing a change within a few days, with results usually best evaluated around two weeks.
For cosmetic treatment, results commonly last around 3–4 months, though duration varies by person, dose, treatment area, and muscle activity.
Results gradually wear off as muscle activity returns.
Maintenance treatments are generally spaced at least three months apart, when appropriate. You don't need to commit to a maintenance schedule to try treatment.
-
I prefer to start thoughtfully, especially with new patients, and reassess once the medication has reached its full effect.
-
Please tell me.
Sometimes a result can be improved with a small adjustment. Other effects simply need time to wear off.
There is no medication that immediately reverses botulinum toxin, which is one reason I emphasize careful dosing, realistic expectations, and communication.
If something unexpected happens, I want to know so we can assess it and determine the appropriate next steps.
-
Possibly! Botulinum toxin injections into the masseter muscles may help reduce excessive muscle activity associated with jaw clenching and grinding.
But not all jaw pain is muscular, and tox isn't a cure for TMJ disorders. I recommend a dental evaluation first when appropriate, particularly if you're experiencing pain, tooth damage, or significant grinding.
We'll discuss your symptoms, previous treatments, and whether injections are a reasonable option. Masseter treatment with Jeuveau is off-label, and results vary.
-
It might be a good option, particularly if strong antiperspirants haven't helped.
Botulinum toxin injections can temporarily reduce sweating in the treated area. Results typically last 4-6 months, although individual responses vary.
I offer treatment for excessive underarm sweating at $900 for 100 units.
This use of Jeuveau is off-label. Before treatment, we'll review your symptoms, medical history, and whether another evaluation or treatment would be more appropriate.
-
You noticed it’s quite versatile.
Botulinum toxin has an impressive range of medical and aesthetic uses. But just because something can be treated with tox doesn't mean I should be the one doing it. I stick to treatments that fall within my clinical expertise, where the benefits make sense and the risks are reasonable.
And one thing tox definitely can't do? Replace good skincare.
Tox can soften expression lines, but it won't improve quality of your skin. Sunscreen, effective skincare ingredients, and consistency do much of the heavy lifting.
Glad you asked. ;)
-
Possibly on your friend's face, since that's how most people find me!
I don't maintain a public gallery of patient photographs. I value patient privacy, and I think before-and-after images have significant limitations. Since tox works by decreasing movement in specific muscles of your face — the interesting part is not so much a static image but more so the change in how your face moves. Lighting, angles, facial movement, and individual anatomy can make comparisons difficult as well.
I'd rather talk with you about your own face, your goals, and what you can realistically expect.
If you're curious about a particular treatment, I'm always happy to explain how it works and what results are reasonable.
For Men
-
Yes. Quite a few, actually.
Men have expression lines, skin concerns, and aesthetic preferences just like everyone else. Some want to soften a perpetually furrowed brow. Others want to look a little less tired. Some simply want to explore their options.
You don't need to have a dramatic transformation in mind — or know anything about aesthetic treatments — to come in.
Text or call to schedule a free 15-minute video vibe check. 202.630.7789 -
That depends on your goals, but subtlety is often the point.
Many men want to look a little more rested or relaxed without losing their natural expressions or distinctive facial features.
I plan treatment around your anatomy, muscle movement, and preferences. The goal isn't to give everyone the same face or make you look done.
-
Sometimes, yes.
Men often have stronger facial muscles and different aesthetic preferences, which can affect injection placement and dosing. But there's no standard "men's dose" or universal treatment plan.
I treat the individual face in front of me, not a gender-based template.
-
Botulinum toxin can also be used for certain concerns beyond wrinkles.
I offer evaluations for jaw muscle overactivity and excessive underarm sweating. Treatment is not appropriate for everyone, and these uses of Jeuveau are off-label.
We'll discuss whether tox is a reasonable option, what results to expect, and whether another approach makes more sense.
-
You need some. And of course, I can. That's part of the point.
You don't need a shelf full of products or an elaborate routine. For many people, a good cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and perhaps one targeted treatment are plenty.
I can help you understand what your skin actually needs, what works, and what isn't worth your money.
No ten-step routines required.
Video Skin Visits
-
Common concerns include:
Fine lines and aging skin
Acne and breakouts
Redness and sensitive skin
Uneven pigmentation
Texture and roughness
Confusing, irritating, or ineffective skincare routines
We can also review products you already own and decide what's worth keeping, replacing, or skipping.
The goal is not a ten-step routine. It's to make your skincare more effective and manageable.
-
No. I sell my expertise, not skincare products.
There are some excellent products on the market, but expensive doesn't necessarily mean effective. And "medical-grade" is largely a marketing term, not a guarantee of better results.
My skincare consultations are built around evidence-based recommendations, sensible routines, and products that fit your skin, budget, and life. Sometimes that's a prescription. Sometimes it's a $15 moisturizer.
I want you to understand your skincare well enough to make good decisions for yourself — not depend on me to keep selling you things.
-
Possibly. That's what the Focused Prescription Skin Visit is designed for.
It's best suited to straightforward requests, particularly medications you've previously used successfully.
I'll review your history, current use, contraindications, and whether the medication remains appropriate. Prescriptions and refills are provided when clinically appropriate, not automatically.
New or complex concerns, multiple prescriptions, or requests for an entirely new routine may require a Comprehensive Skin Consultation instead.
-
Yes, when clinically appropriate.
I prescribe electronically to pharmacies and may recommend generic medications or compounded topical formulas when they make sense.
I consider effectiveness, tolerability, cost, and how realistic the treatment will be to maintain.
Prescription medications and products are purchased separately from the consultation fee.
-
Skin Medicinals is a compounding pharmacy that prepares customized topical prescription formulations.
These can sometimes combine several useful ingredients into a single product, making a routine simpler.
Compounded medications are generally self-pay and are not FDA-approved as finished formulations. I recommend them selectively, when their potential benefits justify their use—not as a default or automatic upgrade.
-
You'll receive a short intake questionnaire.
I'll also ask you to send clear photos of your skin and the products you're currently using, following the instructions in your appointment email.
You don't need to organize everything perfectly. A few useful photos are enough to get started.
-
A personalized written plan, generally within 48 hours, including:
A clear morning and evening routine
What to keep, stop, or change
Specific product recommendations
Prescription options when appropriate
Realistic expectations and follow-up timing
Brief questions by text are welcome for 30 days as you get started.
The goal is for you to understand not just what to use, but why you're using it.
-
Not necessarily.
Most skincare changes take several weeks or months to evaluate. When follow-up would be useful, I generally recommend reassessing around 8–12 weeks, depending on the treatment.
My goal isn't endless appointments. It's a manageable routine that works, with adjustments when needed.
-
No.
Video Skin Visits are intended for common, non-urgent skincare concerns. They do not replace in-person skin examinations, skin cancer screening, or specialty dermatologic care.
New or changing skin lesions, concerning moles, and complex skin conditions may require an in-person evaluation.
If video care isn't appropriate for your concern, I'll tell you.
-
Cost is part of the plan.
I pay attention to medication pricing and coverage when making recommendations — because if something isn’t practical to obtain or maintain, it doesn’t work.
Most effective treatments are available as generics or through tools like GoodRx.
Compounded formulations (such as Skin Medicinals) are typically $55–85 per bottle and often replace multiple separate products.
We can adjust the plan based on your preferences and budget.

Some Thoughts, since you asked (or you didn’t)
-
Sometimes people simply want to look better. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
But aesthetics can also be about confidence, comfort, self-expression, and feeling more like yourself.
I don't believe everyone needs to look younger or perfectly symmetrical. Some lines and expressions are what makes us uniquely beautiful and charming.
My job is to listen, offer sound medical advice, and help you make thoughtful choices about your appearance — without creating new insecurities along the way.
-
Because I think good aesthetic care should be accessible without feeling like a luxury purchase.
Naas Tox & Skin is a small, independently run practice with modest overhead. I keep things simple, price transparently, and don't build unnecessary extras into your treatment.
You receive genuine, FDA-approved medication, individualized treatment, and care from an experienced medical professional.
Good treatment doesn't have to come with a luxury price tag.
-
Yes. I'm always interested in finding meaningful ways for this small business to give back.
I'm particularly interested in supporting DC public schools, neighborhood organizations, and local causes that strengthen our community.
If you're organizing a fundraiser and think Naas Tox & Skin could be a good fit, please reach out. I'm happy to consider a collaboration.
